It all began with a length of flexible gas hose, then evolved into plastic flutes, and ultimately became the latex diaphragm and grunt tube. Cow calls followed, and before we knew it, elk were completely educated to all calls. Now there is a new call promising to successfully take calling elk one step further! Elk are very vocal animals. Besides the obvious bugle and cow call, their vocabulary includes a multitude of whines, chirps, and barks. No one knows for sure what all these vocalizations mean, but Norm Pint, long-time Show Low, Arizona , resident and avid elk hunter, has stumbled onto what might be the most important call, as far as the bowhunter is concerned. For lack of a better term, the call is an aggressive or intense "whine" the cow makes just as she is ready to breed. |
